GMC HUMMER EV Push the Button
The Tagline, “Time has come to push that button,” repeated over and over, is irritating and monotonous.
Moreover, I’m not particularly fond of the song choice for this commercial’s soundtrack. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV TV spot, “The Time Has Come,” is set to a track by The Chemical Brothers.
The main instrumental is reminiscent of a Bollywood dance track.
I love Bollywood music; however, the music does not mesh with the commercial, which was a poor choice for this commercial’s music track.
On the other hand, the Hummer’s ‘Crab-Walk’ feature probably comes in handy if you’re trying to park in one of the tight spots in India. (Push that button)
Overall, the main complaints about the GMC HUMMER EV “Push the Button” commercial center around its repetitive and annoying nature.
Viewers have expressed frustration with the commercial’s frequent airings, describing the repeated phrase “time has come to push that button” as particularly irritating.
The music used in the ad has also been criticized as unpleasant and contributing to the overall dislike of the commercial. Some viewers have even said the commercial makes them want to “punch the screen” or “punch a GM employee,” indicating strong adverse reactions to the ad’s style and presentation.
Despite the complaints about the commercial, more nuanced reactions have been given to the vehicle’s features, such as the Crab Walk mode shown in the ad.
While the ad’s robotic voice and dramatic sounds during Crab Walk activation are described as annoying earworms, the feature itself has been found to be innovative and useful in specific driving scenarios. However, its practical everyday use is questioned.
In summary, the complaints focus primarily on the commercial’s repetitive audio, music, and overall presentation rather than the vehicle’s features or performance. The “Push the Button” phrase and the ad’s soundtrack are the primary sources of irritation among viewers.
