Find key phrases that bring traffic. Not just any traffic. Traffic that is ready to act.

These are high-value search phrases. They connect you with customers looking for your exact solution.

How do you spot them?

Look for intent. What is the searcher trying to do?

Are they learning?
Are they comparing options?
Are they ready to buy?
High-value keyphrases often show a user’s purchase intent.

Think about what your customer searches right before buying.

For a coffee shop:
“best coffee shops near me”
“buy whole bean coffee online”
“coffee subscription service”
These differ from “how coffee is grown” or “history of coffee.”

How do you uncover these phrases?

Start with your business. What problems do you solve? What products do you sell?

Brainstorm terms customers use for these.

Use online tools. Many free and paid options exist. They show search volume and related terms.

Look at your competitors. What key phrases do they rank for?

Analyze your website data. What terms already bring you traffic? Which terms lead to conversions?

Focus on long-tail keyphrases. These have three or more words.

Example: Instead of “shoes,” try “waterproof hiking shoes for men.”

Long-tail phrases have less search volume but higher conversion rates. The searcher is specific.

Less competition on long-tail terms. Easier to rank.

Think about your content.

Does it match the user’s intent for that high-value key phrase?

If someone searches “Best accounting software for small business,” your page needs to list and compare software options. It should not just be a general post about accounting.

Match keyphrase to page content directly.

Where do you put these keyphrases?

Your page titles
Your headings
In the main text
Image descriptions

Do not stuff key phrases everywhere. Use them naturally. Write for people first, search engines second.

Finding high-value keyphrases takes effort. It is like finding gold.

But the payoff is big. More relevant visitors. More leads. More sales.
